Ursula Haegerström cut the leather cord between Ronja and Birk and thus inaugurated the new environment at Filmbyn Småland when we had the season opening on May 1. Ulrika was PR and advertising manager at the Swedish Film Industry when Ronja Rövardotter was filmed. She described how they handled the child actors during filming and how they marketed the film, which 2 million Swedes then saw in cinemas. This is one of the biggest audience successes ever for a Swedish film. The film clip when Ronja is skiing in her forest and falls and accidentally steps through the roof of the rump gnomes' nest is the film clip that T-line has now created next to Mattisborgen's stone hall.
Kaj Grönberg, who created the little gnome family that you meet in Ronja's snowy forest, was there and told us how it happened when Tage Danielsson commissioned sketches from Per Åhlin, which Kaj then realized in three sizes for the 1983-1984 film shoot.
Ursula gave a speech about the Rumpnissarna that captured how relevant they are today. The speech is reproduced here and will also be available on our social channels.
"I thought I'd say a few words about the rump elves because I'm someone who met them in real life. Many years ago. They volunteered during the filming of the film Ronja Rövardotter, which I worked on as a marketer. Contrary to their reputation, rump elves are actually smart. They're also kind. And a bit secretive. They're found out in the forests. Especially here in Småland. But they keep very much to themselves. The chance of meeting one is not great unless you accidentally drive a boot through the roof of their cave... That's when you hear them ask their eternal question: "Why are you acting like this? "And it's not a stupid question. The best question you should always ask yourself. You should think about why people do what they do. And think about it. What do they really want? You don't want to be gullible. Or stupid. Why do they do it this way? It applies to everything. And everyone. From when you're a child and all the time as an adult. Don't let anyone else think for you. Don't become a clown who runs around in a big crowd and doesn't think for themselves. When someone says or does something. What do they really want? Why do they do it this way? Become a clown! And not a clown."
Thanks to everyone who was involved in creating "When the Rumpnissarna meet Ronja", spring 2025
T-line Design, Thomas Karlsson, construction and technical manager producer, (versatile creator; is a furniture carpenter, inventor, designer, caster, creator of props, among other things).
Together with his family, he came up with the idea for the environment, Ing-Marie Fransson, Julia Karlsson and Freddie Karlsson. Julia suggested the playful idea for children to put their foot in Ronja's boot and then gain access to the underground world of the Rumpnissarna. She also made the sound recording together with Anton Rundberg. Freddie Karlsson designed the 11 m long spider with the background."
