Also take the opportunity to visit our café for lunch or a coffee, our shop and one of the 12 filming locations nearby, such as Katthult and Bullerbyn.

Background - The History of Filmbyn

Mariannelund has an exciting history in Swedish children's film. Some of our greatest and most timeless classics were created here in the area, with Emil in Lönneberga being the film most closely associated with Mariannelund. There are many filming locations around Mariannelund and the area is home to a cultural treasure that is now being brought to light.

Filmbyn Småland is the result of many years of work and Smålandian persistence. The project was started in 2010 by Anna Mellergård and the Emilkraften economic association. Since then, many people have been involved in what has led to what Filmbyn Småland is today.

The vision is to, in addition to becoming an international tourist destination, also become a natural meeting place in the region. Since we want to be a living knowledge center, Filmbyn is open during school holidays and the summer season, and the goal is to arrange conferences, meetings, seminars and educational activities in the house in the forest.

Financing and collaborations

The Filmbyn Småland museum has been realized thanks to support from Eksjö Municipality, Region Jönköping County, Postcode Lottery Cultural Foundation, Jönköping County Administrative Board, Astrid Lindgren's Hometown, Emilkraften and a number of private individuals who have joined as shareholders. In addition, Filmbyn Småland has a cooperation agreement with Astrid Lindgren AB and with SF Studios.

The business is run by a limited liability company with limited profit taxation, Snickerboa i Mariannelund AB (svb). The chairman is Markus Kyllenbeck, the vice chairman is Cecilia Andersson. The board members are Sofia Johnsson, Anita Kyhlberg, Jan Frankenberg and Samuel Klintefelt.
